2012: Call for Speakers

The National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) is now accepting speaking proposals for the 2012 NAGW National Conference in Kansas City, MO, September 12-14. NAGW is seeking presenters who are willing to share knowledge and ideas and present on new technologies and trends. The deadline for submitting proposals online is March 16, 2012.


NAGW and the 2011 Conference Videos

NAGW members can now view videos from the 2011 NAGW Conference in Cincinnati, including keynote presentations by Jeffrey Zeldman, Kristina Halvorson and Joe Rotella, as well as five regular sessions, including presentations by Jeffrey Zeldman, Molly Holzschlag and more. Presentation materials and liveblogs from the conference are available as well.


2012 Board of Directors election results announced

The results of NAGW’s 2012 Board of Directors elections were announced at the annual members meeting, held Thursday, September 15 during NAGW’s 2011 National Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Seats for NAGW’s five odd-numbered regions were up for election this year, as well as Region 6, Gulf, due to a mid-term vacancy last year.


NAGW's National Conference heads to Kansas City in 2012

The National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) is pleased to announce that Kansas City, MO will be the location for the 2012 National Conference. “Next year will mark the 10 year anniversary of our conference, so we decided it would be fitting to bring it back to where it started in 2003.” said Ron Pringle, NAGW’s current board president.


Diving into open source as a contributor

I’ve been running code I wrote to pull the National Weather Service’s XML weather feed to display local weather conditions on the City of Aurora home page for years now. You can see it running in the right column of the home page at http://www.aurora-il.org.


2011 NAGW Pinnacle Awards announced

The National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) has announced the winners of its prestigious 2011 Pinnacle Awards, sponsored by Siteimprove. The Pinnacle Awards honor the highest achievement in web design and development among its members. NAGW Pinnacle Chair Matt Harrington presented the awards at the Association's national conference, held at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza.
