Joel grew up in Colorado. He came from a journalism family -- his dad and brother were in radio for many years. He started out as a photojournalist with his work appearing in daily newspapers, magazines and books. With the onset of the Internet and his love of working with computers he turned his career emphasis to the Web and IT in the mid-90s, and has been with it ever since.

Joel continues to enjoy photography and writing, especially with living in one of the most beautiful regions of the United States.
